Mentorship is key to long-term success in medicine. Through strong mentors, a residency portfolio can be created, with many of the same principles being applied as an academic faculty member – that portfolio becomes essential for academic promotion. Through focused, goal-driven mentorship in residency the skills needed for academic success can be learned and developed early in training. This session will help outline one such resident mentorship program, and how it draws inspiration from a successful faculty mentorship/promotion program within a major academic institution.
