Over the last decade, wellness has become an important topic within academic medicine. During that same time, the number of advanced practice practitioners (APPs) has grown. APPs may be a resource to assist physician practices and aid wellness if utilized correctly. We will discuss potential benefits of APPs in academic physiatry, and also discuss challenges including scope of practice, financial challenges, and effect on learner education.
