Research at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)
Kindred’s interest in physiatry began with UCLA’s PM&R specialty interest group. In addition to enjoying a field that improves physical function and overall wellness, Kindred also values research. Through AAP’s Rehabilitation Research Experience for Medical Students (RREMS) program, Kindred researched ways to improve the diagnosis of rotator cuff tears under the mentorship of Drs. Nitin Jain and Chan Gao at Vanderbilt University. As a resident, her research at HSS focuses on improving the diagnosis of patella tendinopathy in elite athletes. In addition to general musculoskeletal pathology and sports medicine, Kindred has interests in interventional spine and spinal cord injury. Finally, Kindred is passionate about medical education, mentorship, and reducing health disparities in physiatric care.
