As an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Dan Daneshvar, MD, PhD conducts research on the long-term sequelae of repetitive head impacts (RHI) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) including the diagnosis, risk factors, and biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases. His research in this field has led to high impact publications (e.g. JAMA, Annals of Neurology, Acta Neuropathologica, Brain, JAMA Neurology, Neurology, JAMA Open) that have improved understanding of neurodegenerative disease following RHI and TBI. His work has had substantial impact on the field with an h-index of 38, i10-index of 43, and a current citation count of over 10,000 (first author citation count over 2,000).
He also founded Team Up Against Concussions, the first scientifically validated concussion education program for kids. He is the Director of the Institute for Brain Research and Innovation at TeachAids, which created CrashCourse: a free, scientifically validated virtual reality and computer based concussion education program. He received his S.B. from MIT, and completed his M.D./Ph.D. at the BU CTE Center. His research resulted in the first dissertation in history to study CTE. He completed residency at Stanford University.
