Dr. Kathleen Bell is the previous Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at UT Southwestern Medical Center and currently a Professor there. She graduated from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, PA, completed residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA and completed an NIHR (now NIDLIRR) Switzer Fellowship. Dr Bell was a Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington for 20 years before moving to UT Southwestern in Sept of 2014. Her research interests and publications have centered on treatment and outcomes for traumatic brain injury including self-management interventions, post-traumatic headache, sleep disorders and exercise after TBI. Current interests include concussion, sleep disorders after TBI, and autonomic nervous system after concussion. She has been funded or an investigator on grants from NIH, NIDILRR, the Department of Defense, PCORI, and the CDC since 1998. Dr. Bell is currently a Past-President of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is an investigator for the North Texas Concussion Registry (CON-TEX, Care4KIDS and for the North Texas TBI Model System.
