German Valdez is a Dominican American, from Livingston, NJ and a current PGY-1 PM&R Intern at Mount Sinai. Prior to this, he received a B.S at Rutgers University - New Brunswick. He then went on to receive his MD at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in Newark, NJ. During his time at NJMS he was involved in the PM&R interest group and volunteered for multiple races and swim meets. He also worked on case reports and article summaries, He later helped to create and lead an active stroke support group. As an intern, he assisted in publication of the paper describing methods to increase diversity within the physiatry workforce and is currently involved in writing a chapter for physiatry in the age of telehealth. He is excited to become a full-time rehab resident in the coming months and to continue pursuing his passions in service, diversity, and academia.
