Erica Bellamkonda, M.D. is a board-certified physiatrist and board-certified brain injury medicine and rehabilitation (BIRM) specialist and an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She matriculated in the BS/MD program at The University of Akron and Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM), which is now known as Northeastern Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). She completed a Transitional Year program at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio (home of the Football Hall of Fame) before entering PM&R residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center (OSUMC), now known as The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC). She completed BIRM fellowship training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), now known as Shirley Ryan Ability Lab. She spent time in Washington D.C. in private practice contracted with Inova Health system. In 2011, she joined Mayo Clinic where she is faculty for the PM&R residency and BIRM fellowship programs. She has an interest in healthcare systems delivery quality improvement and served as Chair of PM&R Quality Committee from 2011-2018. Since 2019, she has been serving the department as its Clinical Practice Chair. She is married to Venk Bellamkonda, M.D., a consultant in the department of Emergency Medicine at Mayo Clinic. The Bellamkonda bunch also includes their sons, Asher (born 2013), Ronin (born 2015) and Barrett, aka ‘Bear’ (born 2019), and their dog Zelda (adopted as rescue 2022), who never fail to fill their home with silliness and laughter.
