Dr. Awad is the founding director of Boston University's Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory (NRL). The NRL is a cross-disciplinary team focused on the development and study of novel rehabilitation interventions, with focus on digital, robotic, and neuroprosthetic technologies. Dr. Awad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is an affiliated faculty member of the Center for Neurophotonics, a founding core faculty member of the Harvard Move Lab, an Associate in the Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University, an Associate in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School, and is on the research staff at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Awad is Associate Editor for leading open access journals at the intersection of rehabilitation and technology, including Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation and the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology. He is a member of the Stroke Rehabilitation Scientific Advisory Board for ReWalk Robotics and serves as Chief Science Advisor for MedRhythms.
