Dr. Cheville received an MD degree from Harvard Medical School and a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. After completing a Pain and Palliative Care Fellowship training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she founded the Cancer Rehabilitation and Lymphedema Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, she serves as the Research Chair and Director Cancer Rehabilitation and Lymphedema Services at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Her NIH-funded health services research program develops and validates patient-centric strategies for delivering rehabilitation and supportive care services to patients with complex medical conditions. She has characterized the factors responsible for functional loss among people with cancer and demonstrated their widespread under-treatment. In 2016 Dr. Cheville was elected to the National Academy of Medicine.
