Hongkai is a PhD candidate in neuroscience at Northwestern University complating his thesis at Shirley Ryan Abilitylab. In his clinical rotations, he developed a strong interest on paralysis and its treatments, which inspired him to opt into a physician-scientist track. His PhD thesis is about creating toolbox in the treatment of diaphragmatic paralysis. He will participate in the 2025 match and wish to find a PM&R residency position.
