After growing up and attending college in Iowa, Dr. Nathan Olafsen attended medical school at the University of Missouri. He then complete PM&R residency at the University of Washington, where is also served as chief resident. He subsequently completed Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Washington. After his training, he moved to St. Louis, where he is an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. His serves as the Associate Residency Program Director and Director of the Musculoskeletal, Sports, and Pain Medicine Curriculum for the Washington University PM&R Residency, the Co-Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as the faculty sponsor and lead instructor for the Washington University PM&R Residency Program Ultrasound Club and first ever Washington University PM&R Student Interest Group. He is a member of the Complex Nerve Injury Clinic was Washington University, perfroming neuromuscular ultrasounds and electrodiagnostic studies. He also provides sideline coverage and care to athletes at Washington University and members of Saint Louis City SC and City2 teams. He specializes in the evaluation and nonoperative management of all musculoskeletal and sports injuries, with special interests in tendon and joint disorders, complex nerve injuries, sports-related injuries in runners and other endurance athletes as well as climbers, adaptive, and younger athletes.
