Partnering With Our Community Physicians: VA Systems of Care All Physicians Should Know About

The VA model of care can be elusive and difficult for community physicians to understand and partner with. However, many veterans receive care in the community due to misconceptions of the VA or wait times to seeing a VA provider. There are formalized systems of care in the VA where qualifying Veterans can receive care that is financially covered with minimal cost to the Veteran for medical care, therapy services, and equipment. In this session, community providers can learn about the formalized systems of care in the VA and service connection for various diagnoses. After this session, community providers will be able to articulate special programs and equipment available as well as any gaps in community care to optimize Veteran care and wellbeing. A Q&A session will be offered to review information and provide an opportunity for collaboration.
