Dr. Danielle Perret Karimi (Dani Perret) is Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, Ambulatory and Professor and Vice Chair, Department of PM&R at the University of California Irvine. She is board-certified in PM&R, Pain Medicine and Clinical Informatics and has been on faculty at UC Irvine since 2008 - practicing Pain Medicine and having appointments in both PM&R as well as Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care. Her previous roles include Residency Director and Associate Director, PM&R; as well as Fellowship Director, Pain Medicine (in Anesthesiology)- the latter for approximately ten years. She previously served as Assistant Dean, GME, and Associate Dean, GME, and DIO and she currently functions in an ambulatory leadership role in Informatics (Associate CMIO) where she oversees enhancements and projects that impact provider workflow in the ambulatory clinics and procedure suites. She serves as senior representative for the AAP to the AAMC Council of Faculties and Academic Societies (CFAS) and enjoys advocacy and physiatry workforce studies and scholarship. She grew up in the beautiful state of New Jersey where she attended Rutgers College (Class of 1999) and UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (Class of 2003). She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at St. Barnabas Medical Center (Livingston, NJ) and trained in PM&R at the Mount Sinai Medical Center / Mount Sinai School of Medicine (New York, NY) where she also served as chief resident (2004-2007). She completed a Pain Medicine Fellowship in Anesthesiology at the University of California Irvine (2007-2008). She lives in southern California with her hospitalist husband, two tween/teen boys and two kittens. She enjoys national parks, road trips, skiing, vino, limoncello, and cooking!
